^ You never know what you might find at a Pawn Shop

< prefers an old-school computer repair shop

v Can you repair your own computer?
^ Probably, but I've been coasting on Dad's expertise.
< Attempt 1 was a shitty scam, with a power cord that sparked through a bitemark, a hard-drive 11% as big as advertised, and running on Windows 11. With the hard-drive filling so fast, I tried to ease the bloat by deleting non-essentials. I didn't realize until it was too late that One Drive had eaten everything I put into documents and took all of that with it. I was only able to recover a year-old version, but my "Worlds" images will need to be recollected. Dumbest of all, Windows 11 kept pestering me about One Drive being absent as if that was the problem.
> Attempt 2 at a different pawn shop is doing much better despite also running on Windows 11, but that can be fixed and the hard-drive is nearly double the previous promise at only $30 more. It was also the only laptop there priced at less than $200.
v Lesson learned: now that I have a 90% refund, I'm never stepping foot in Cash America again.
^ Have you considered visiting a computer repair shop?

< I have a friend who has one and we share information and resources (not infrequently.)

v Do you shop online for components for your PC?
^ There are plans to do this for gift-giving days, but buying such parts at a repair shop (for the gaming desktop) sounds good to me.
< My new Asus laptop is tragically not compatible for a parts-switcheroo, but it's already more than good enough for tabletop gaming.
v The only real snag is Windows 11 and that damned One Drive still haunts me, but I'll tolerate it.

^ Go to: Start/Search/Startup Apps and select the slider to disable any such undesirable startup apps.
< Used Group Policy to disable Telemetry
v How did my suggestion work out for you?
^ Not automatically activating on start-up isn't good enough; I want unwanted programs gone and deleted forever to savor that many more precious bytes for whatever it is I do want, mostly maps and landscapes in this case.
< Unfortunately, Windows 11 will pester me every time I download something if I don't have One Drive.
v On the bright side, this gaming bad-boy I use to post here will be getting another terabyte of hard-drive.
^ That's sweet! If you search YouTube, there are good videos that help with installing Windows 11 without the bloat.

< One day, I might just have to switch to Linux. Why would a rational person pay Microsoft for spying on them?

v Happy Gaming!
^ Are there any videos on how to install Windows 10 to a computer that already has Windows 11?
< Originally planned to collect some of the All Flesh Must Be Eaten books, until I realized Journey works better as a Last of Us expy.
v Same with 10 Candles, Alone Against Fear also scratches the Silent Hill itch but is less of a fire-hazard.
^ The short answer to your above query is: yes.

< Windows 10 Pro user

v Do you agree that YOUR computer belongs to you and it is not the property of Microsoft?
^ That's exactly what I'm getting at.
< Barely controlled rage, as explained below...
v What would you say to somebody who was told about this video and instead of watching it, he just said "I guess it's a matter of selectively ignoring parts of Windows 11"?
^ I would ask them if they would truly sacrifice their liberties and their security for the sake of having a computer.

< knows that they who sacrifice liberties for security will soon have neither

v Linux looks better all the time, is that not so?
^ The only thing holding me back is that games more often don't work on it.
< Will be keeping old browser-based Lego games, preserved as downloadable on The Bio-Media Project, on the laptop.
^ forgot the v
< no one is perfect
v not even you
^ But I am Prefect
< Am I not?
v Are you careful to always keep a towel handy?

^ Here, do you need a hanky?

< dry humorist

v Is it raining there, just now?
