Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is now available on GOG!

Whether you’re a long-time fan of the tough as nails archeologist or a newcomer to the series, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is the perfect opportunity to (re)discover Lara Croft’s original adventures, now lovingly restored. This definitive collection will allow you to play the original three Tomb Raider adventures with all expansions and secret levels.

The Remastered Collection includes:

Tomb Raider I + The Unfinished Business Expansion

Tomb Raider II + The Golden Mask Expansion

Tomb Raider III + The Lost Artifact Expansion

Within those timeless classics you’ll be uncovering treasures of the ancient world by solving puzzles and unraveling mysteries lost to the ravages of time. It’s a globe-trotting adventure, where you follow Lara Croft facing off against deadly foes and dangerous myths.

All of that with upgraded graphics, but also with the option to switch to the original polygon look at any time.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, out now!
In case you want to restore "Lady Luck" on the back of Pierre DuPont's jacket to her original topless glory:

Currently the one on Nexus unfortunately is the more complete mod, restoring both the pixelated 1996 as well as the remastered 2024 boobage.

Xeshra: Dark Reign 2 had a pretty convenient Map editor... which was already full 3D... so, creating something in 3D does not need to be complicated.
avatar
Waganari: I know! I learned of its existence only recently when going through the games' folders, yet I know of this game since it came out back in 2000. I used to have a CD with a Demo of it back then, and then later on I managed to buy the full version somewhere, can't remember now. I still have it to this day. I've also ended up buying the copy that's, still, sold here (no longer sold on Steam).
I've always sucked at R.T.S. games, but Dark Reign 2 has always been a favourite of mine for whatever reason (the soundtrack is definitely one of them).
As for the Editor itself, I've never managed to try it out but from what little I've seen it does indeed look fairly convenient, and yeah... I suppose you're right.

avatar
neumi5694: TR had a completely different approach, every room was split into squares (due to Sega Saturn compatibility), every square could have a height offset, a floor angle and a roof angle. In later games they would use triangles instead of squares, allowing for much more detailed levels. The intersections between the rooms would actually port the player to the next room.
avatar
Waganari: Hmm, that's quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.

avatar
Atreyu666: Starcraft back then had a powerful map editor onboard. But even more powerful (and against the game's rules) was StarDraft. I saw people making RPGs out of this game!

I mad a lot of crazy tracks for Trackmania Nation long ago. Well, it IS 3D but the track editor was very easy to use :)

And maps for some older games I don't really remember.
avatar
Waganari: Nice! Yeah, I remember fiddling around Trackmania's "Level Editor" (I suppose, can't really remember much now but I know it was one of the very early Trackmania games, possibly the very first one, which also allowed you to make tracks for it... like, some really crazy shit hehe). As for StarCraft's Level Editor and StarDraft I had absolutely no idea about that, but that's also quite interesting.
Off topic!
avatar
Atreyu666: As far as I remember, all the Trackmania games had a level editor but Nations was free and you could access all the items in the editor immediately. On the other games you had to unlock them :)

Fun fact: Although TM Nations was free, it still had the copy protection (Starforce?) that isn't compatible with modern Windows systems. But then they released TM Nations Forever that had the DRM removed. I think it still works, I have to try it again :)

Dark_art_: https://www.trackmaniaforever.com/

Nations Forever is still up for download form the website (lower section, not the big buttons) and still as fun (and DRM free) as ever :)

Cheers, works like a charm.

*shrugs* If I hadn't read about in posts here I would have never noticed. Hell, I never really noticed that jacket design in the original either. It's big fat nothing-burger to me.

More importantly... use parameter "-nolegal" when starting the games to get rid of the silly PC warning when booting them up as well as all the other splashscreen logos. I really just use that to stop wasting my time more than anything else. I fucking hate unskippable splashscreens, especially the ones of the long-animation variety.

rtcvb32: But we've seen them 'remaking' and 'remastering' games that are only a few years old, the TombRaider 2013 being notable so they could add more hair physics and upgraded textures
avatar
pferreira1983: They think they can improve but a lot of the times they can't.
Such improvements should be likely a free upgrade or DLC patch, not a paid product.

Oh right, adding to my previous rant: They should also not stick with the same 6-10 franchises indefinitely. You can only make so many Tomb Raiders, or Indiana Jones, or Final Fantasy or Gears of War, or Call of Duty, or Diablo games, etc before they just don't pull any money at all (Especially when they shove always-online DRM microtransactions and skins lootbox bullshit).

They need to make a bunch of medium scope games that are smaller in scale, cheaper to make at lower selling prices, and if a few do well you make a sequel or two and then move on.
Patch #2 retroactively removed the pinup posters above the lockers in 'Sleeping with the Fishes' (Tomb Raider III). Only the remastered version is affected, the pinups in the original are sufficiently pixelated already, so it was not deemed necessary to remove them as well, apparently.

Also noticed that piece of news today.

Now we just wait and see how long before Nexus nukes the mod :P

Huh I don't remember them in the original, I guess they really were pixelated :P

edit: oh, they were in The Lost Artifact. That makes sense, I've never played it.

Given recent efforts in regards to changing Lara's "problematic tomb-raiding past" you might actually want to pick up the remasters, to send the message, so to speak.

That message being:
Old Classic Curvy Lara Croft / Established Tomb Raider lore = Good, exactly what the fanbase wants
New Redesigned Less Curvy Lara Croft / Rewritten Tomb Raider lore = Bad, definitely not what the fanbase wants

Sure, those idiots over at Crystal Dynamics are still receiving their share from each sold copy, but it obviously would send a strong message if the remasters are doing really or even exceedingly well sales-wise.

It's just a minor inconvience slapping on these mods to restore removed or reinstate uncensored content anyway.
Which, by the way, looks more and more like Crystal Dynamics actively and with malicious intent trying to sabotage the remasters in order to hamper their sales.

I'm here for some "truth seeking" :P

Honestly this is getting beyond stupids, the whole "PSA" at the beginning, was already pretty dumb, then there was the jacket, but here... release a patch two months after release to censor some pin-up pictures...

I don't know what kind of brain rot Crystal Dynamic is afflicted with but it is getting pretty bad...

Is it at least optional? If it's not can we refund the game for CD removing items from the original release?

Got to love remaster censoring items. I doubt anyone that played the game were actually offended about it.

I really hope GOG will offer older backup installers from the games in their catalogue too some day. If you didn't buy the tomb raider remastered trilogy already you now have to use mods. It shouldn't be that way.
Good news?

https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/articles/26244383712269-Tomb-Raider-I-III-Remastered-Patch-2-Posters

Aspyr is apparently going to undo the poster removal in the next update. They claim the removal was "inadvertent" (yeah right), but at least the community feedback was heard.
