While it’s developed by only a single person, Grzegorz Styczeń of Slavic Magic, the whole gaming community awaits this historical strategy game published by the beloved Hooded Horse – we’re talking, of course, about Manor Lords, now out on GOG, with a -25% launch discount until May 10th, 1 PM UTC!

The idea of experiencing the life of a medieval lord, growing our starting village into a bustling city, managing resources and production chains, and expanding our lands through conquest – it’s all almost too good to be true! Inspired by the art and architecture of late 14th century Franconia, Manor Lords also prioritizes historical accuracy wherever possible, using it to inform gameplay mechanics and visuals alike. Common medieval tropes are avoided in favor of historical accuracy, in order to make the world feel more authentic, colorful, and believable.

And now, we can finally put our hands on it – so check out Manor Lords, together with its Soundtrack and Artbook!

paladin181: I'll definitely consider this when it is finished. I abhor the concept of "releasing" unfinished games and charging your customer base to play test it.
A fair few of my collegues have jumped on this wagon, and their opinions are usually rather level-headed, so I'm going to wait a week or so, and ask them what they think of the game in its current state. And then I'll see.

Either way, I have a fair share of games to keep me busy in the meantime, regardless of whether I'll get it after that week, or far far later on.

micktiegs_8: See you again in five to ten years, Manor Lords.
Good on ya, mate! ((;--))
Sadly, doesn't seem playable on an ordinary(integrated graphics) laptop per Minimum System Requirements. Would be nice if Devs reconsider the limits of low-quality graphical settings to make the game more accessible (more sales).
* sigh * Shut up and take my money...
Why is it still advertised as " early access " on Gog ?

Because it still is early access. Or "In Dev" as GOG prefers to call it.

I abhor it because I got burned with Starbound's beta being blatantly better than the release. I'd rather not have to deal with a tragic disappointment like that again.

They used to, but gave up on that at some point and also call it early access now. Probably for the best to use consistent terminology.

Devs now have the "oranges" to expect one to pay for the "privilege" of being a playtester. In the immortal words of Samuel Goldwyn: "Include me out." QED.
high rated
I understand people get burned by Early Access (In Dev) titles all the time, but the experience greatly varies. I've played Early Access games released in a better state, with more polished content than "finished" AAA titles. Manor Lords is one of them.

I think the Early Access experience also depends a lot on the game's genre. Strategy/Management games are a good fit, there's no story to ruin and generally you'll just see it improve over time with new systems, balance fixes and more content.

If you're interested, do a little research into the game and developer before deciding immediately solely based on an Early Access tag. In most cases, especially in the case of Manor Lords, there's more than enough information out there to make an informed decision before the discount ends.
Already on the library and looking good so far!!!!

I can't think of a single time when an Early Access game wasn't either a complete mess, or just generally an incomplete experience. It's that way by design. Baldur's Gate 3 was no exception. Kenshi was no exception. I expect Manor Lords will also be no exception. There is no reason to allow the sale of incomplete shit that may or may not ever leave "development." I'll never understand the appeal of paying full price to experience a broken product.
