Well, I don't know how much "fixing" GOG can do in regards to these titles. But if they're releasing them, then they're confident enough that they won't have to offer many refunds (if you can't get their version to run and Support can't help you).

Do check out the System Requirements though (and Supported Processors and Supported chipsets).

I believe what you're referring to is the problem at the very high shader setting with one of the shaders that the game uses. I think that was a problem with GPU drivers, not actually the machine. With my HD 7870, it was briefly fixed before occurring again. There's certainly very little discernable difference between the high and very high shader settings.

It's also a game that benefits from strong per-core performance on modern CPUs, so you'll have problems running it on lower-end quad-core or 8-core CPUs, for instance. It struggled on my Phenom II X4 920 (2.8 GHz, overclocked to 3.2 GHz back then) but strangely ran better on a dual-core Athlon II X2 260. I now have an FX-8350 (4.0 GHz) and it runs much better again.

Anyway, just checking to see if the very high shader setting problem is fixed, although I don't know if it'll clash with my Origin installation.

Crysis runs fine with shaders set to very high on my HD 7870. Not sure if it's been fixed in the GOG version or in my GPU drivers, but it works anyway - I get a nice shiny 60fps with all settings set to max at the start. Whether that framerate is maintained when I hit the jungle is another thing...

Edit: Just tried from a later save game - stutter hell due to my GPU being pushed to the max according to MSI Afterburner. Funnily enough, it doesn't matter if I have the settings at minimum or maximum - GPU usage still hovers at around 96-97%.

By now I'm well aware of your feelings about post-2014 GOG.

it wasn't my intention to start a new discussion, i'm trying to counter the all-is-just-awesome-in-here statements like the one i quoted in your post, as they aren't true. as you said you're aware of that.

Fairfox: It doesn't need to be countered every. single. time.

Please just stop.
Why not? Challenge the status quo. People idolize GOG to ludicrous and delusional degrees.

I don't, thus he really doesn't need to be quoting me and bringing his frustrations to my attention any more.
A few issues with Crysis that you can fix yourself:

1) Performance: Crysis is CPU bound so you still need a powerful CPU to get 60fps everywhere. The graphics is not a problem for modern GPUs. Try to lower the Object Quality to high or even medium - it should lower CPU usage.

2) XBox Controller users: The control mappings are simply horrible. However, most of them can be modified by editing actionmaps.xml file, but it's very tedious. So I have done it for you: check the link on image below (I'm not allowed to post link yet). This is a Crysis 2/3-like controller mapping.

3) TV monitor users: You may only get 24Hz at 1080p when using a TV as monitor. On NVidia you can define a custom 1918x1280@60Hz resolution in the NVidia panel and use that in game.
